Kevlar XP NIJ IIIA Bullet Resistant Insert

ArmorCo Advanced Armor Products is once again proud to announce another game changer of a product. We have added Kevlar® XP™ Uni Directional Cross Plied Soft Armor Inserts for Personal Protection to our catalog of Bullet Resistant Products. Kevlar® XP™ is the Kevlar Fabric often found in Police and Military style Bullet Resistant Vests.

Great for Backpacks, Briefcases, and larger Purses, these Soft Kevlar Inserts protect against High Performance Hand Guns such as the 44 Mag, 357 mag, 9mm and all common Saturday Night Specials.

Kevlar® XP™ technology for Soft Armor features a patented woven fabric technology that helps enable the Kevlar XP Inserts to weigh at least 10% less than those made with other commercially available technologies, while still being made of Kevlar® material.

The Kevlar® XP™ technology used in our Soft Body Inserts offers more bullet-stopping power than other Fabrics commonly found in other lower grade Bullet resistant Inserts. This DuPont patented technology helps provides approximately a 15% reduction in back face deformation with at least a 10% reduction in overall weight.

Our Kevlar® XP™ Inserts offer more protection using less material and when a bullet hits our Inserts made of Kevlar® XP™ the fabric actually absorbs the energy of the bullet along the molecules of each fiber, “catching” it in a multi-layer web of woven Kevlar® XP™ fabric. The Kevlar fibers absorb and disperse the energy of the impact to underlying Kevlar fibers in the Insert and help reduce the amount of transferred energy that causes the Backface Deformation that causes blunt trauma. The final inner layers of Kevlar disperses the energy and helps diminish trauma.

This super-lightweight Kevlar XP Soft Armor system provides consistent and uniform ballistic performance and can easily withstand multiple hits from handguns as powerful as the .44 Magnum without delaminating. Unparalleled ballistic protection, lightweight comfort, superior strength, you can count on our Kevlar XP Inserts to help keep you safe from harm.

I’m sure many of you reading this have watched a television police drama or two, if so then you’ve probably heard of DuPont™ Kevlar®. It’s what the bullet-resistant vest are made of that saves the life of the Police Officer being shot at by the bad guy. And while it can also be found in other applications such as reinforcing surfboards, enhancing running shoes or strengthening tires, it’s still best known for the many lives saved in the daily lives of our Military Personnel and The Men and Woman that wear Blue protecting all of us on a daily basis.

But what’s less commonly known or understood is how Kevlar® has evolved in the decades since its invention. In 1965 while working for DuPont, Stephanie Kwolek discovered Kevlar® and It was initially used to build stronger, lighter tires. But, DuPont researchers discovered that Kevlar® could also be used for other applications and the most important one was to help to save lives. In the 1970’s, bullet resistant vests made of Kevlar® began setting a new safety standard for law enforcement officers. Even though the early Kevlar Vests were heavy and bulky, they did offer a level of protection for the men and women who put their lives at risk every day.

As enhancements to vests were being made to the outer covering, DuPont’s scientists and engineers weren’t satisfied with the thickness and weight of the Kevlar fabric. So they felt to fully maximize this material’s potential, it had to get more comfortable and lighter for the wearer.

So DuPont began introducing the second generation of materials in 1988. These versions of the fiber were called Kevlar® 129 and Kevlar® KM2 and offered better protection, less bulk and increased the use of Kevlar® in helmets as well as body armor.

Like our Kevlar XP Inserts, the vests currently being made with Kevlar® are more protective than ever and can weigh as little as a few pounds—a fact that, for the wearer, is as meaningful as the launch of the material itself.

Until recently ballistic vests were all woven aramid fabrics whether Kevlar® or other brand materials. The newest protective vests made using Kevlar XP® offer better flexibility and comfort, greatly improving the wearer’s response time in a critical moment which could mean the difference between life and death.
